Meet The Sugar Sophisticate
ENTREPRENEUR, BAKER, AVID CRAFTER, SELF PROCLAIMED MOVIE BUFF
Hello! I'm Farae, otherwise known as The Sugar Sophisticate, and I have been baking since the tender young age of seven. That's right, I was the little girl in the kitchen with my Grandma and my EasyBake oven, mini pans, cake mix, and frosting in tow. In my mind, I was a force to be reckoned with! I could whip up a vanilla cake with chocolate frosting that would rival seasoned bakers across the world. Seriously though, they were pretty tasty considering they were all made with processed EasyBake cake mix. Aside from those precious moments spent in the kitchen with my loving Grandma, I found that baking was soothing to my soul. There was nothing I enjoyed more than baking cakes, pies, tea cakes, and other goodies in the kitchen with her. As I got older, other things took priority and I slowly drifted away from concocting my sugar, butter, and vanilla extract laden creations.

I grew up, went to college, had a baby, went to graduate school, got a job and so the rat race commenced. After a series of roles in finance, public relations, and accounting I ultimately found my niche in Human Resources. Raising my beautiful boy and navigating my career came with it's own challenges, and I frequently found myself seeking an outlet. I slowly rediscovered my passion for baking and began to do so for friends and family. Around 2009, someone close to me suggested I purchase a booth at a local bridal fair for exposure. After a great deal of deliberation and prayer I decided to take the step, and A Unique Treat was born! I left the fair with one wedding and two birthday parties booked. As I progressed in my craft, I expanded my interests to other sugary offerings such as treats. In 2018, I officially changed my business name to The Sugar Sophisticate.

I am mostly self taught and believe in the value of handmade, crafted, quality baked goods. Not only do my made to order sweets warm the home, but they definitely warm the heart.

I am so glad you stopped by for a visit, and I am sure you will find something to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Stay Sweet,
Farae
